SLEEP + MEMORY

Sleep and memory are both processes that change over a lifespan.

NEUROSCIENCE

Dealing with the structure or function of the nervous system and brain.

The Neuroscience of Sleep

The SomneuroLab at UMass Amherst is housed in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and is an affiliate of the Neuroscience and Behavior Program

Research in our lab broadly explores a range of questions pertaining to sleep measurement and function. In particular, we are interested in neural processing during sleep and how such processing affects daytime cognition. We use a variety of techniques to explore how the brain learns cognitive and motor tasks, and how brain function and learning change over sleep.
